Wreath after wreath, hand painted and hung across the softest pale pink. Some are woven from roses in deep red and coral, some from garden greenery, and nearly all are finished with a satin red bow, a small gold star or a hanging ornament. Tiny scarlet starbursts float between them like sparks off a candle.

It is the gentlest possible take on Christmas, and it is lovely on the nights when the house has finally gone quiet. Wear it through the slow week between the parties, for the first snow, for the morning nobody has anywhere to be.
